Fabry-Pérot Lasers

Fabry-Pérot (FP) QCLs do not have an integrated optical grating to select a single spectral mode. Therefore they emit multimode light in a broad range that an cover more than 10% of the central emitting wavelength.

FP-QCLs can operate at room temperature. The emission is in the same wavelength range as for DFB QCLs. i.e. from 740 cm-1 to 2390 cm-1 with similar threshold current and voltage. The variation of temperature has a low influence on the emission bandwidth which is mainly defined by the supplied current. FP-QCLs are well adapted when broad band emission is acceptable, for ex. in liquid spectroscopy, high power emitting sources, when no signal purity is required or for using the QCL with external cavities.

FP-QCLs can be defined with the following parameters:
  • the central wavelength is defined by the centroid of total emitted power
  • the bandwidth is defined as the wavelength range where 90% of the power is emitted.
  • for the same laser, the central wavelength and the bandwidth can change in function of the operating current and voltage
  • the average (or peak, depending on the application focus) power is the total power integrated over the spectrum, at maximum working current and -30°C.

A large selection of FP lasers either pulsed or CW is available in our inventory so please submit to us your specification according to the parameters above. This way we can propose you the best QCL fitting your application.

You can also take a look at the following typical performance covering a broad range of possibilities. Note that these exact lasers may no longer be in stock, so always define specifications and not a serial number in requests for quotations.
