NUTRISHIELD project

Fact-based personalised nutrition for the young

NUTRISHIELD aims at creating a personalised platform for the young. The platform will consist of novel methods & techniques, which analyse a wide range of biomarkers related to nutrition and health disorders. Based on findings, the platform then uses ICT, by expanding existing nutrition assistive mobile apps, in order to provide feedback and steer people towards a better nutrition. This takes into account the way each person responds to different nutrients and food types, by also analysing phenotype, genome expression, microbiome composition, health condition, mental & psychological condition, as well as financial capabilities for procuring food.

In the NUTRISHIELD project, new methods of breath, breast milk and urine analysis will be developed.

The analysers will correlate health parameters related like “oxidative stress” or biochemical agents (like bacteria) and others to the mid-IR spectra of the sample under investigation.

In that view, Alpes Lasers contributes by providing custom highly-tuneable External Cavity QCL sources for the development of all three analysers used in NUTRISHIELD.

The laser sources will be integrated into a spectroscopy module and the development and adaption of proper driver electronics, optics and mechanics will be also addressed.
